Mohyun Hospice Center is a home-visit hospice organization run by the Sisters of the Little Company of Mary. Established in 1987, before hospice care took off in Korea, it provides pain relief and holistic care to homebound medically incurable patients, enabling them to live peacefully at home until the end of their lives.
In addition, Mohyeon Home Hospice has made great efforts to revitalize home hospice for bereaved families by caring for and holding meetings. It has held professional training and meetings for hospice professionals, patients, and families.
Mohyeon Home Hospice was selected as the winner of the 14th Mystery of Life Excellence Award in recognition of its dedication to many terminally ill cancer patients and their families who have been in medical neglect for over 30 years.

Professor Lim Dae-Sik has conducted basic research on the Hippo signaling pathway for a long time. This signal regulates the normal size and shape of adult stem cells as they form organs in the body, from the molecular level to the complex and in-depth study at the individual level. His research has led to the discovery that this signaling system plays a critical role in maintaining and activating various stem cells in the body. In cancer cells, this characteristic is a mechanism that aggravates cancer, helping to understand and treat the disease.
As such, Prof. Lim Dae-Sik's work on adult stem cells is outstanding and has had a significant impact, which is why he was selected as the laureate of the 14th Mystery of Life Life Sciences Achievement Award.

Sister Yong Jin Sun is a long-time researcher who has been working to raise awareness and promote hospice palliative care and 'spiritual care'.
“Spiritual care” is a term that refers to the concept of providing holistic care, including not only physical care but also spiritual dimensions. Sister Yong Jin Sun has a special interest in spiritual care, a topic that has not yet been established in Korea, and has published numerous research papers, books, and translations on spiritual care. Her research has made great contributions and contributions not only to hospice activities, but also to the fulfillment of the Catholic spirit of respect for life and love as a pioneer in the field of 'spiritual care' in Korea, and therefore she was selected as the laureate of the 14th Mystery of Life Awards Humanities and Social Sciences Achievement Award.

Professor Park Hun Jun has presented a new paradigm for cardiac regeneration therapy. He successfully regenerated damaged tissue by applying a heart patch made of induced pluripotent stem cells and mesenchymal stem cells to regenerate the heart. In addition, he successfully regenerated damaged cardiac muscle cells with the world's first 3D heart patch made with 3D cell printing technology.
Professor Park Hun Jun was chosen as the laureate of the 14th Mystery of Life Awards Life Sciences Encouragement Award because he is an outstanding medical scientist who combines the best of both worlds: a clinician who understands and treats patients suffering from diseases and a researcher who develops advanced cell therapy technologies to overcome diseases.

In her book, Life: Its Precious Beginning and End, she conveys the Catholic Church's respect for life in a clear and approachable manner, addressing key bioethical issues such as embryo research, artificial insemination, contraception, abortion, and euthanasia.
Her consistent research and educational efforts have made a significant contribution to promoting a culture of respect for life and embodying Catholic values, leading to her selection as the laureate of the 14th Mystery of Life Awards Humanities and Social Sciences Encouragement Award.
